The Value of Our Services
Traditional acupuncture techniques are somewhat foreign to people who have only experienced living in a mainstream and modern society. Many people maintain a belief that this type of medical healing and orientation is primitive, or unproven at best. The fact is that it’s an exact science and discipline that features a holistic approach that has been proven effective for at least three thousand years.
Many people have heard of the amazing results experienced through these techniques for alleviating body pains and a host of problems, but are hesitant to try it because of certain questions. At Golden Valley Acupuncture Center, you can experience those great results for yourself.
Does Acupuncture Hurt?
The simple answer is, NO!
The vast majority of acupuncture points can be needled painlessly, while some points due to their surrounding structural anatomy may be considered uncomfortable, or inflict a slight pinch. Any discomfort unsually disappears within seconds. While many people express fear or anxiety of needles before their first treatment, they are surprised by the sense of relaxation and well-being that they experience both during and after their acupuncture treatment.
Chinese Medicine Is an Excellent Alternative
While there’s no scientific evidence that Chinese Medicine works better than mainstream medicine, there’s no doubt that it is a perfect therapeutic supplement and that when used in conjunction, an enhanced synergistic effect is achieved. There are facets of treating the human body that science and mainstream medicine have not yet discovered, but ancient techniques somehow present answers to. Anyone with personal health concerns like chronic pain and fertility issues should not overlook the answers that centuries of healing methods provide.
Are Chinese Medical Practitioners (Licensed Acupuncturists) Considered Medical Professionals?
A Master’s Degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine is the culmination of a 4 year degree program which includes training in natural therapies such as acupuncture, Chinese herbs, and nutritional guidance. Acupuncture and Chinese herbs are the core of the Master’s program those topics are studied intensively for all 4 years, every semester. Standards for certification to become an Acupuncturist in the state of California are quite strict. Practitioners must excel on the licensing exam administered by the Acupuncture Board which in turn is overseen by the Department of Consumer Affairs. This is the same body that oversees the Medical Board of California, the Board of Registered Nursing, and the Physician’s Assistant committee. In addition, to maintain one’s license, an acupuncture practitioner must complete 50 continuing education credits every 2 years. These are most definitely professionals who have had a great deal of training and possess skills that are exemplary in their field.
